Accordingly, at An Giang warehouse, the price of IR 504 summer-autumn rice crop is being purchased by traders at 6,600 – 6,800 VND/kg, Dai fragrant 8 rice fluctuates around 6,900 – 7,100 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice ranges from 6,400 to 6,600 VND/kg; OM 18 rice price 6,600 – 6,800 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 9 costs 6,600 – 6,800 VND/kg; Japanese rice is also stable at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice (dry) at 13,000 VND/kg.

With sticky rice, An Giang (fresh) is being purchased by traders at 5,800 – 6,000 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (fresh) ranges from 6,300 to 6,400 VND/kg; AG (dry) sticky rice at 7,400 – 7,600 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (dry) costs 7,700 – 7,900 VND/kg.

With rice, the price of raw materials and finished products has not changed. Accordingly, IR 504 raw rice is at 10,100 – 10,200 VND/kg. Similarly, finished rice is at 11,450-11,500 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of IR 504 sheet ranges from 9,700 to 9,800 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of dried bran is 7,350 VND/kg.

According to traders, now that the amount of rice is small, the price of rice in buckets tends to increase slightly. White rice is firm, needs to buy a lot. Summer-autumn rice market continues to be anchored high, with many new transactions.

At retail markets, the price of rice is usually 11,500 – 12,500 VND/kg; Intestinal sticky rice remained stable at 14,000 – 16,000 VND/kg. Nang Nhen rice is priced at 22,000 VND/kg. Long grain Thai fragrant rice maintains 18,000 – 19,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice costs 15,000 – 16,000 VND/kg.

Huong Lai rice costs 19,000 VND/kg; Common white rice costs 14,500 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice costs 18,500 VND/kg; Soc rice usually fluctuates from 14,000 to 15,000 VND/kg.

Soc Thai rice stable price 18,000; Taiwanese fragrant rice costs 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice costs 22,000 VND/kg and bran remains at 8,500 – 9,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, export rice prices remained stable compared to the previous session. Specifically, 5% broken rice traded at 513 USD/ton; 25% broken rice was at $493/ton and Jasmine rice was stable at $578/ton.

According to businesses, the price of export rice skyrocketed due to the affected supply. Countries that fear drought should buy rice to stock up.

Mr. Pham Thai Binh – General Director of Trung An Hi-tech Joint Stock Company (Can Tho City) said that the company’s export price of rice is nearly 20% higher than the same period last year. The reason is that the world food supply is in short supply, and the area planted to food crops in many countries has been lost. Meanwhile, also due to El Nino, which affects crops, global rice prices have skyrocketed to the highest level in the past two years.

“India is considering a ban on rice exports, the world rice supply will be affected. Not to mention, the increase in Thai rice prices due to the strengthening baht gives us a huge advantage in terms of exports.” Mr. Binh said.
